Default Production Number Size

My 35 Fordor has an aftermarket frame. I'd like to punch the production number into the frame. Does anyone know what size the number punch should be? Thanks, Bob

Just a reminder that the Federales take a pretty dim view of that, not to mention the DMV folks at state levels. Be careful! DD

I've had the car for 13 years and have a valid title. I just want to put the number on the frame. No attempt to do anything fraudulent. Are there other options when a frame is replaced? I wonder what the street rodders do. I'll check out the HAMB. Thanks, Bob

I'd cut the serial number off the old frame and keep it with the title as backup proof of ownership. Only my opinion.

Thanks guys. The old frame is long gone. I checked the HAMB and they agree that it's a no-no to put a serial number on the frame. I'll just forget about it. Bob

After market frame? Is this a street rod? Are you sure that a number is not on the frame rail next to the steering gear.

Jerry, I guess you can call it a street rod frame. It's an aftermarket 35-40 Ford frame but has Rack and Pinion steering and parallel leaf springs in the rear. The car has late model Ford drivetrain but looks almost stock. I thing the new term is restomod. Not barn friendly but my 49 Coupe is original.
