Default Interior light mounted on door post - 1948 Ford Tudor Sedan

I have attached pictures of the two switchs and light housing that are mounted on the door posts. Are these called courtesy lights or are they called something different? Does anyone know if there are repair kits or replacement socket and switches sold somewhere? If so, what site can I find them.

If there are not re-manufactured replacements available, does anyone have NOS or good quality originals that they would be willing to part with?

Best,
Aaron

I've understood them to be called courtesy lights. Mine were also in rough shape with no repops to be found. That being the case, I rewired mine to move the switch to the dash. The non-functional toggle switch is still there for show and I've also eliminated the possibility of them being bumped on when passengers are exiting. The guts of the socket can be replaced with innards from any auto parts shop.

I could not find a replacement switch. I had 2 sets so I mounted the 2 with no switch and mounted a Model A switch on one door post. I doubt anyone will notice.

Those sockets can be cleaned up using a little wire brush with a Dremel. You can make your own new wire pigtail for the socket or you can buy rebuild kits for sockets at Napa Auto Parts or other parts stores. Spray some WD-40 into the switches. That switch actually does not look that bad. It may be savable.

I have a set of nice NOS lights (one with the switch and the other without like original). Not perfect but never installed and complete with bulbs and original finish.

Don't toss your old ones. They will sell at a swap meet.

I’m not. I’m going to keep them and find others to restore them with hopefully.

I restored mine. The wiring was Ok found an original switch... they are as hard to come by as "rockinghorse shit". Cleaned up the semi rusty innards and sprayed them with zinc paint, cleaned the lens and had the outside bezels chromed. Looked a million bucks.

I have three or four Nos switch plates (no globes or bezels) left. If anybody is interested.
