Default Starter Rod length?

Anyone have the length for the starter rod that connects the starter switch to the foot operated linkage on a RHD '28 (photo attached ).
Thanks in advance.

Is this going in a high points car or daily driver? If it is going in a daily it looks like you can buy a standard foot switch pedal from Snyders and modify as needed.

If you have carpets in your car you might want to add an inch to a stock rod.

Not sure where the other guys were going with their comments but they probably were just messing with you.

I had a RHD Phaeton in here a few years ago that was also missing many items, -one was the starter rod also. What we did was depress the starter switch plunger all of the way into the switch, and then pushed the starter button on the right side down about a ¼ inch from the floorboard and took a measurement from the eyelet of the linkage down to where the threads starter on the plunger. Then we used a LHD starter rod and welded an eyelet off a brake rod (--or something) to it. This gave us some room to compensate for the mat (we didn't use carpet on this one) by threading the starter rod in or out of the starter switch plunger to set the height. I cannot tell if your switch is like the Abel starter where it uses a cotter pin, but if so, then just measure like we did and drill a hole to set the length.

Hopefully when the other 'night crew' guys from down-under come on to check the forum, they will find an extra one in their treasures so you don't have to go thru the hassle of fabricating one.

Hi Brent. I will be using eye end of an old brake rod cut to the required length. The starter switch is an early type with a split pin so the length is more critical than a screw in type. I am a long way from installing the body, floorboards etc. so am unable to estimate the length. Hence the request for the length of an original.
For what it's worth, this will be a daily driver.
