Default Model A Recall

I received the following notice from a fellow Model A guy a little bit ago, and thought it might be of general interest to others....

Ford Motor Company and the NHSTA announced on March 28 the recall of Model A automobiles for potential defects in rear axle assemblies. In an unprecedented event, the recall of the eighty year old cars is being aided by The Model A Restorers’ Club and The Model A Ford Club of America. The recall is directed to the approximately 130,000 remaining unmodified Ford Model As estimated to be on the roads currently. Ford spokesperson, Mitch Presnicki, confirmed the exceptionality of the recall stating that "it would be quite easy for us to slough off the responsibility, but in fact, the complaints seem to be very directly tied to manufacturing and design assessments deliberately made by Ford engineers more than eight decades ago." Owners are asked to bring their vehicles, along with the Bill of Sale, to any authorized Ford dealership and the Ford service department will do a 10-15 minute inspection of the rear end bearings, drive shaft and axles. This will be at no charge to the owner. The source of the complaints are that several owners noticed that as the cars were going forward, even at slow rates of speed, that the rear wheels were turning.

I fixed mine with a piece of shore line.
I do have a problem with my steering wheel. DNA sampling proves that when brand new, fingerprints were set into the yet hardened surface. Research indicated an E. Ford 's DNA. How do I remove the blemish?

On this day last year, a very good friend (he had to be) of mine gave me a gift. Upon opening the package, I found a 12 foot tow rope. On one end, marked "Chevrolet", and in larger print, below the Chevy 'Bow Tie" logo, was the word 'FRONT'. At the other end of the Tow Rope, there was another tag which said "Ford" , and in larger print, under the oval Ford logo, was the word "Rear". . . . . . .

We still talk to each other.

Normally something like this would make me laugh (or at least chuckle), but in light of GM knowing about a defect for 13 years and causing the death of an equal amount of people and waiting for that long to have a recall, I can't do it.

The really "foolish" part of this is that they were going to do it in 10 or 15 minutes!!

Thanks.
I brought my Model A to my local Ford dealer and received a complete lube job as well as a rebuilt tranny and rear end. I now have a four speed synchro gear box and two speed rear.
I appreciate the tip.
Hope you offer another tip next year.
