Default Cleaning of original door pulls

I am hoping to begin replacing the interior in my '29 Briggs Town Sedan soon, and have been able to run across a couple of the original door pull "balls" (door straps) unique to that year and model (to my knowledge, no one is replicating these at present). My question is this: What recommendations might anyone have as to cleaning the "balls" before re-attaching them to new robe rail cord? Any and all ideas, thoughts, and recommendations are most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dick, steam is a great way to loosen dirt. I have a drapery steamer that we use for upholstery installation but it also works great at loosening dirt from fabric where it can be steamed first and then the dirt is blotted with a clean rag. Just keep repeating, stopping long enough so that the fabric does not become saturated with water. This also works well on old original upholstery fabric.

If you don't have the equipment, you might just take them to your local Dry-Cleaner.
