Default new wheel hub bolts are .004" too small

I bought some new hub bolts to replace the original ones that had buggered threads. But the new ones fall right through the holes in the brake drums. The original bolts were .625" in diameter, the holes are .625" but the new bolts are .621"

Does anybody have a source for hub bolts that are .625" diameter? With the flat spot on the head. For a 1937 Ford.

thanks!
Pete

Won't they be tight after you swage them.

Swaging would deform the top edge, with only that deformed bit locating the stud and locking it into the drum. But the originals were full size for their entire length.

Were the originals swaged? They don't appear to have been. It looks like a simple interference fit for the entire length of the stud.

I'd like to just buy a set that are identical to the originals, if possible.

He doesn't have any, but told me to try a modern Ford dealer. Apparently the studs were used for many decades and might still be in stock! I'll try that next.

Try Fred Wilmer, who goes by "barnfind08" here on the 'Barn. Send him a PM via the link below. Fred has some really hard-to-find NOS stuff. DD
