Front engine mount question
The front engine mount on my 1928 pickup is an earlier type been part of the front cross member. I am considering cutting the front cross member thus removing the engine mount attachment points and installing a later front yoke assembly.
Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks. |

Re: Front engine mount question
Unless you have severe vibration, I would not cut it. It is an original feature of the early cars, and for yours to have lasted until today is remarkable. I know a guy who has a 28 fordor with the solid mount, and he says the vibration is not a big deal. These engines vibrate at some RPMs, as all 4 cylinder engines do, so you may not see a huge improvement. Our early 28 pickup has the mount cut, and I wish it was not cut. The engine in this truck still vibrates, even with the spring front mount.

Re: Front engine mount question
I agree with Bill.
My 28 also has the solid mount, and I'm sure glad no one cut it off. It doesn't vibrate any worse than my 29 with the spring mount. |

Re: Front engine mount question
don't cut it,it's a original feature and probably rare because the service bulletins had the instructions for the modification.

Re: Front engine mount question
If it makes any difference, I vote to leave it as well.

Re: Front engine mount question
Thank you all for your replies, there is an overwhelming vote to keep it original so that is what I will do.
