Sealedbeam mounting screw?
Im currently updating my headlight's.
And have a small problem. Im lacking some of the screws used to mount the sealedbeam light. And since I live in the mm part of the world, Im lost. Can anyone tell me the dimension of the screw? I need to order a couple :-) Its Ford Truck lights 40-47 |

Re: Sealedbeam mounting screw?
It's a little hard for me to tell, but it looks like you have a standard 35 passenger, 38/9 pickup headlight bucket with a seal beam kit mounted on it. I believe you have to aim the bucket, not the headlight.

Re: Sealedbeam mounting screw?
I know, but I need the screw's so I can mount the ring that holds the sealed beam assembly.
And the lights are Ford COE 40-47, that I have modified width model A headlight mounting parts, The screw goes into this hole, and there is three fore each light. And I would say its a M5 screw. but I need the type in "inch" |

Re: Sealedbeam mounting screw?
Go to
www.boltdepot.com there is a section of printable guides on bolt sizes and types From the pictures I am guessing either a size 8 or 10 but you need to know whether it is fine thread or course( threads per inch), can you post a picture of the screw removed from the light bucket?. I would have copied the link but I was unable to do so. |

Re: Sealedbeam mounting screw?
I went out and measured some. They measure about 5/32" = 3.98mm = 0.154".
The book says an English #8 screw is 0.164". But do you have machine screws or sheet metal screws? They look like machine screw.....

Re: Sealedbeam mounting screw?
Wow!! For 25 years I was in the auto body business and probably threw away a 100 of those screws. If I recall correctly, they are 8 - 32 X 1/4". The filister head allows you to loosen the screw and move the bulb retainer about 3/8" to the large opening and remove the retainer without removing the screws. If you don't mind re starting the screw in a tight confine, any type head will work.

Re: Sealedbeam mounting screw?
The 8-32 x 1/4" screws don't have to be fillister head. Allen head or round head will do the job.
