The fire risk of the Volt is a TV news myth. REAL vehicle fires are caused by GM heated windshield washer systems (which were discontinued after MANY fires), Ford cruise control connectors (I put a few of these out myself; unfortunately they took out the house and garage in more than a few cases) and other cost-reduced electrical components (oh and don't forget GAS tanks, I have been to many of those fires!). Not defending GM or the Volt, but technology is here to stay. I like my old Ford but my new cars (one Chevy and one Ford) get almost 30 mpg so when it's time to commute my wallet says drive the newer cars. |
