Ford tractor mufflers from 1953 and up. Tractor supply has the best price.

10 years ago I replaced a rusted through muffler on my 35 fordor with a straight section of pipe until I could find an original domed end muffler like Ford used in 35. Never did find that muffler at a reasonable price, so I'm still running the straight pipe and it sounds good to me.

Thats exactly what I did with the 52 Merc. Straight through all the way to the rear bumper. I like it and nobody has complained about the noise.
You can hear the idle at the 2:20 point in this video.

I don't know what mufflers are on my '41 coupe, they don't have any name on them, but with the Reds headers they sound great to me. Whoever did the plumbing on my car did a good job, no weird bends or cob job, compared to others I have looked at through the years.

I guess I'm the only one that likes a "stealth" truck. Mine is so quite that it's like a BMW motorcycle, you see it go by but don't hear it.

Brockman Mellow Tones are my favorite. I have had Smithys too. I also like a nice quiet stock muffler on an original build car/truck. Whatever the muffler there is just something about the sound of a smooth running flathead that is music to my ears. Like a fine watch or well oiled sewing machine. There is nothing like it.

Old style gutted muffler. Sweet and not loud and annoying.

I have Porter mufflers and like them. Deep rumble but no drone on highway.

I just installed some glass packs from Summit on my 36 coupe today. It was the only place I found 1 3/4 inch inlet and outlet glass packs. they can be installed either direction, and one way is louder than the other. I chose the quiet way, but still make a good sound.

Straight pipes for me as well. Not as loud as many would think and they sound terrific!

The engine block is the muffler on a flathead!

I used two 24" glass packs. Like 2manycars, I went with 1 3/4" dual pipes. Nice tone right from the start, they get better with age.
