Default Model A carb on a Model A intake enlarged to fit a Model B carb .

I assume you can run a model A carb. on a Model A intake that has been enlarged to fit a Model B carb. Anything to look out for doing this other than not overtightening the bolts as I did on the non modified manifold I am replacing . I used the thick cooper gasket . Wonder if this contributed to the cracking ?
Also noticed oil in the intake ports of the block. I assume this is not normal. Source of the oil ?? .This is a Model B ,diamond , engine. Runs great . Appreciate your comments on both topics.

Yes, you can use an 'A' carb on an enlarged 'A' manifold without adverse effects. The 'B' carb on a stock 'A' manifold is the one that creates turbulence and affects the venture operation.

Oil in the ports is likely from poor fitting cast-iron valve guides.
