Re: Ford rear end
Can you post a few different pictures of the hubs and drums,
and of the center section, and also where the springs mount. 5 lug with 6" bp is NOT very common at all. I think the Toyota Tundra had a 5 lug 150mm (close to 6") .

With square axle tubes I would think it would be at least a 1 ton. How are you measuring the bolt pattern, it doesn't sound right. Bob |

Re: Ford rear end
I think it is a late 50's F600, my father built a low bed trailer using square axle housing, 6 lugs, if I remember right they were from a 58 or 59 F-600. Ed

Re: Ford rear end
Look, I might be totally off base here, but you don't give much to go on. The UK Ford transit van had 5 studs on (something like) a 6.25" bolt circle, had square tubes and part number prefixes something like 82VB. I don't knhow what one would be doing in Florida, but you never know. You don't say if this is light truck (van) or heavy truck, so lots of wild guessing going on.

Re: Ford rear end
Are you checking it with a wheel stud gauge or just measuring it? Unless you have measured a lot of them it is easy to get the circle dimension wrong.
Just reread your post, you state 6 inches apart? Is the bolt circle 6 inches in diameter or are you saying that each stud is 6 inches for the next? 6 inches between studs are what the 36 - 39 wide 5 are. Last edited by JSeery; 04-05-2016 at 05:06 PM. |

Re: Ford rear end
Like JSeery said I think you are measuring the studs wrong.
Bolt pattern or bolt circle is the diameter of an imaginary circle formed by the centers of the wheel lugs. Bob |

Re: Ford rear end
Do you have what's known as the Wide Five bolt circle
The wide five has a 10 1/4" bolt circle. Measure from the back edge of a lug hole, skip a lug hole, then measure to the center of the next lug hole. Tell us what that measurement is . .

Re: Ford rear end
In the old catalogs, that part number is meaningless. FoMoCo did use square tube housings for the single speed rear axles for the 500 & 600 series trucks starting in 53 but they have no numbers even close to that. I'd say it is out of the early Ford category and it is likely larger than a 1-ton. Keep in mind that without photographs or illustrations we are literally blind to what you have there.

Re: Ford rear end
I thought the rears with square tubes were a rockwell axle. Early 60's ford 1 ton trucks I think some used a rear like that.

Re: Ford rear end
First off when you begin to reply, click on the "go advanced" button on the bottom of reply area. Next click on the "paperclip" above reply area (see pic). This will open a new screen that will give you the option to "browse" through your pictures (see pic). Click on "Browse" your phone will give you options like photo library, take photo, icloud etc. pic one you know the picture that you wish to post is located.
Once you decide a picture you like on your I-phone, tap on it, and it will automatically place it in the attachment box. After you see the picture description on the line ,click on the "upload" option on the right (see pic). This might take a few minutes on an I-phone. Once you see it listed below stating, "current attachment" (see pic) it is complete and you can then close this window on the top right where it says "close this window". You will not see your picture attached until you post or preview it. Note: you can only post one picture at a time off your phone vs. a PC will allow multiples. Good luck.
