Default windshield removal

i'm working on a 31 coupe. has not been run for about 11 years. had fuel in it all that time. Want to take the tank off and have it cleaned and sealed. using Les Andrews book to remove tank.
going good until i got to the windshield removal. have all 12 screws (machine and wood) removed. The two w/s post brackets are removed.
The windshield is as tight as before the screws were removed. Is there a secret to getting it out? May be just stuck, but before i started prying on it i wanted to ask the experts. Any help would be appreciated.

The reason it sat so long, i bought a 29 coupe to drive while i was working on this. it has taken most of my time keeping it running. have it in good shape and starting on the 31. have replaced the engine with a rebuilt engine and look forward to getting it running again.

Does it look like the hinge is holding in a rubber seal that is between the wooden header and the hinge.?
That was installed dry. Use a wooden block if you try to tap the frame loose. You won't get the dents out if you hammer the windshield frame. A rubber hammer is your friend for this job.
Were you able to swing the windshield horizontal to remove the screws.
If so, that may give you access to the frame hinge to use a putty knife to separate the hinge from the header seal, assuming someone used a sealant.

yes i am able to swing the windshield out. The screws i removed were in the inside of the windshield. Did i take the wrong screws out? The car has a visor on it. should i remove it before going any farther.
Thanks

Visor off, swing windshield out a fair amount as I recall. A helper is a good idea. Push the windshield on one side or the other and it slides out of the channel. As said above, tapping the frame to get it started may help. I think I slid mine in by myself.
