Default First personal 41 project

I purchased my personal 1st 41 Ford pickup last week, I have been around them and involved with them for years but just hadn't bought one of my own yet. The cab and sheet metal forward are in pretty good shape other than a few dings and dents. the bed will most likely be replaced to save some time . I have a motor all ready started in process before I purchased the truck. The best part is I hope to get 4 generations involved in building it including my dad, son and grandsons, I will be doing the lion share of the work of course, but I want to get a lot of memories involved in building it. I will post more pictures as I progress with it. "And so it begins"

Welcome! If you don't already have it, a great book to own is called "Two Great Trucks" by Howard Towne. It is a neat reference for 1940-1940 Ford Pickups. You can buy it for ten bucks from the Early Ford V-8 Club https://shop.efv8.org/collections/fo...-truck-booklet.

Hi Ron, I to am in the prosses of restoring a 41 pickup. Tell us about what your starting with, maybe some history. And where you want to go with it for a the end result. Mine came out of Nevada , was a factory six with a spur gear four speed. Some where along the way some body cobbled a 8BA out of a car into it, not a clean job at all. My sheet metal is good with just a few pin holes in the stake pockets and cab corners . Even the wood cab mounts and bead planks are solid. I hope you got as lucky as I was. Tim

My cab, running boards, and hood are in great shape, the front fenders are solid but have some dents, the bed could be repaired, I have repaired worse I guess, but these days, I think I will just build a new bed with fiberglass fenders and save my self some time. Any recommendations of bed suppliers . I don't have to have the best ones out there, but I also don't want to get a poor quality reproduction either.
It has a 4 speed in it as well that I will change back to the original three speed. It needs the usual things like a grill, I did get lucky though and get a re-chromed waterfall hood piece, and eyebrows, if that's the right name for them? It is missing the latch lever. I have been told that its cheaper to buy new headlight trim than have the old pieces re-chromed. Does anyone know a reasonable company that does re-chroming? The interior is all there mostly, including the door handles and seat springs, not sure what I will do with them yet, but they are there. I am intending on putting disc brakes on it but will retain the original suspension. I guess that's about as far as I have gotten so far.

Going to get popcorn to watch! I passed on a 40-41 truck project a year ago. It went to a very good home.
Yes we like pictures if you have them sir!
Welcome to the Ford Barn!

Chris
