Brake bleed valves have slotted screws
Bleed fittings have slotted round head screw in opening?? They are not tight and will move in either direction? Never seem such.
Restorer had no nipples or design change? Remove and continue with bleed process? (easier to work knowing my families in Louisiana are OK) Clem |

Re: Brake bleed valves have slotted screws
Clem, Those are the correct bleeder valves, 39 - 48. The screw is nothing more than a dust "cover" and must be removed to bleed the cylinder.
You can, if you like, get modern replacements at NAPA. Bring in an old one for size comparison.

Re: Brake bleed valves have slotted screws
I just took off a pair from some early Lincoln brakes. The wheel cylinder push rods had folded over ends so they couldn't get loose from the shoes.
