Engine ID help
I'm trying to find out exactly what i have for a motor in my pickup. Did some searching on the web and this is what I came up with. Engine block number has a star followed by A 15035-- in my findings it was built in October of 1927. Am I correct? What do the rest of the numbers mean? The body have the vin tag on the gas tank but its been primed over. Any other place on the body to find numbers? I know there are stamping a on frame just not sure where to look. I'm told its and early 28 pickup. Thanks in advance for the info.

Re: Engine ID help
There is a serial number stamped on the top of the frame under the cowl body on the left (drivers) side. Unfortunately you have to raise or remove the body to see it. Also many times rust pitting obscures the number or some of the number. Sometimes there is a body stamp on the body cross sill usually where your left heel would be when driving. There is no vin on the gas tank. There usually is a date stamp in the front of the gas tank on the drivers side just above where it is bolted to the firewall. Hopes this helps.

So we can figure out exactly what you have, please post photos of your car....and don't be shy, post 10 or more. Also, if your car is that early, it won't have a date stamp on the tank. Look at Steve's site, www.plucks329s.org Steve Plucker....it has tons of information. There are others at the top of the main page, on a "sticky". Dudley |

Re: Engine ID help
Nice pix. Can you get a close up of the serial number pad on the side of the engine - also measure the length of the pad with a ruler? Steve Plucker will thank you.
Mine is March 29. Always intrigued by the "high" rear window in the early trucks and the script "Ford" above. This seemingly done as a "second pressing" of a previously made lower segment. Later trucks as mine, the window was lowered and the script removed. I bet the script pattern matches the tailgate. I wonder what Ford did with the "cut-outs" from the window. He didn't waste a thing. Joe K

Re: Engine ID help
At the end of your number, where you put the dashes, are those dashes digits that you don't want to show? If so,your engine is a lot later than you say.Where did you come up with the idea it was made in Oct.of 27? There is no code to those engine numbers, they just started at # 1 and went up to over five million. There should be a star before the number and one after it.

Re: Engine ID help
The engine has the TALL outlet, which should only be used with the tall 1930-1 radiators. The correct short one will put less stress on the top tank inlet.

Re: Engine ID help
I used the link that Mitch pa posted. Yes I put dashes in for the last 2 numbers. It does have a star before the numbers.
