Some of you may have noticed my classified ad for this car recently posted. I never wanted to sell her but due to both my wife and I losing our jobs I was forced to put the ole' girl on the block.
I am happy to report that my wife has found a job and the 36 is no longer looking for a new home!

I wanted to chronicle the build up of this car with a thread mainly so my 3 year old son can look back on it and see how this car was put together.
I'm by no means capable of doing the work on her myself and with $ always being an issue, I know this will be a process that will evolve over a long period of time.
This has been a family project from the start as my wife and son came along to pick her up in PA where she lived all her life, or so i'm told.

The plan is to keep the car stock looking and go for the lead sled style.
Drop the rear add skirts and just cruise and enjoy.

The first order of business is going through the original(so i'm told)flathead, making sure everything is up to snuff and reliable.
Next in line is taking down the fuel tank and seeing if she's salvageable or needs replacing, and running all new fuel lines.
The old tank isn't connected and the guy I got her from rigged one of those lawnmower plastic tanks under the hood just so she ran.
What an abortion that is.

Next in line is to remove those "custom" rear lights and that disasterous looking fuel door from the rear drivers fender.
Somebody obviously thought that looked good but I'm having none of it.
I purchased a pretty nice original set off e-bay and I can't get her back to stock fast enough.

A nice set of wide whites and some Cadillac Sombrero hubcaps are also on the agenda.

The best thing about the ole' girl is she's complete and most of her rust is surface rust.
She's also already been upgraded to a 40 rear and juice brakes.

Things i'm still not sure about are wheather to keep the spare mounted on the rear and also what color to paint her.

Great news! I like the idea of the Early Kustom plan. You are probably familiar with Rik Hoving's Kustom site for '40s style custom ideas. If not check it out. He posts a daily picture on Facebook of some sort of '40s-'50s style kustom.

If you ever sell it,you'll regret it.You may not know how to do all of this restoration stuff but it doesn't mean you can't learn.Join a car club.There's lots of talent out there and I'm sure some of them would be willing to help you.I bought mine in pieces and did all of the work myself in my garage.I made a few mistakes along the way but that's why they put erasers on pencils.I'm not an Einstein and if I can do it,you can do it.Glad you can keep it.Good luck!
