Default Brake drums

I have read that the early Flathead Ford brake drums (1932-36) are 12 inches with a turn out of .030 as being no problem...but turn out to .060 would be a problem. Is there anyon einserting a metalband to makeup for the brake drum wear to avoid a turnout beyond 030. Thanks

There may be a language problem here. Turning to a diameter of 12.060 should not be a problem. Beyond that I would buy a new set of USA manufactured drums and have them installed by a shop that knows what they are doing. I have never heard of the inserted band being used. Add your location to your profile or post your location and maybe someone can suggest a good machine shop.

The bands you are referring to are external bands that they put on the old drums when they were turned down too much and they were worried about expansion of the drum. They are still available
