Welcome to the forum ! I'm curious, as to how you settled on the year /model trans that you selected ?

As Mike has stated, guys at the HAMB are expert at this mod. Matter of fact, some over there supply the necessary adaptors, etc that you seek. I'd like to do as you are doing, as I hear that many Model A owners have done same same and are happy with results. BUT, they say that you have to have the CORRECT trans/gearing in trans to be satisfied. I'm getting too buggered up to do that now...

That particular model has the correct gearing for an A plus it locates the shifter in front of the seats. Some T-5's locate the shifter to far back to work in an A.

Is there any other source for a clutch Disc where the hub has the correct offset to run that T-5? I have all the other parts except the disk.

our kit uses the AA bell housing you don't need that offset disc.

Unfortunately I have already shortened my torque tube to accept an adapter from the 4WD S10 T-5 to torque tube. I have also shortened my radius rods to work on that set up too. I may have to find another tube and an AA bell housing. The tube is easy but the AA part is a lot harder to find. I guess I will have to go on a search. Machine Girl is there a web site that shows what is in your kit?

the t-5 5 speed transmission have a big selection of gear selections and the camaro and s-10 bolt patterns are on ones up to the 93models after that they went to the ford pattern . to get the forward shifter location you need to get a s-10 unit. Some of the s-10 rear tailhousings can be put on a camaro unit You really have to do a lot of homework to see what will fit what

I am using the Miller head company kit , Mr. Serr has the kit for an AA bell or sells a new housing . I am going with the open drive shaft . A good source on AA Bellhousing is Rufus Ranch or on Here . Serr also sells the Masterbrake kit and Park Brake Kit . The only problem I am Having is the open drive Shaft , Have not found any one that make a 6 spline with the "A" cover (mine is a quickchange from Derck Thomsom).

I like the availability of ratios offered with the T5 transmission. However, can theT5 be installed without any mods to the mechanical brake system?

Iam tring not to do that . It takes a 1936 spline an there is 2 kits out there. But the cove is differnt pattern to the "A' ,there is also a kit for the "A" but the spline is bolt on . tring to not have to buy 2 kits to make one "pricy"

Dustyp, With the open drive shaft, what are your plans for radius rods?

I put an early S10 trans in my 49 F-1, boy does it ever make a difference. Shiting is smooth and easy.

Hey Blinger,
Ha, You have all the other parts, and I have a new disc and throw out bearing and none of the other parts !

As luck would have it, the guy that I bought the disc/bearing from....sold the t-5 out from under me ! Where does a person best locate the correct t-5..junk yard , ebay, etc

I got lucky and found my T-5 at a swap meet a few years ago. It was the only t-5 I saw all day and it turned out to be the correct 4X4 trans that I was looking for. I needed the 4X4 trans because of the adapter I am running for a torque tube rear end. If you are planning on running an open drive shaft there is plenty of options. Astro Van, Camero, Mustang and 2WD S-10 trucks and blazers. The link earlier in this thread for a H.A.M.B. t-5 tech page is an awesome source for finding the right gear set for your needs. I got all the other parts I needed from restoration supply. I picked up their bell trans plate a pilot bearing extender and a sleeve for the throw out bearing. I should have bought their Disc when I got the other parts. I need that particular disc so I can run a stock bell housing. If I cant find one I will need to find an AA bell and have to find another torque tube and change a lot of other things that I have already set up. I will try and post a pic of what I have so far later today.
