‘Ford Crest Wings Badge’ I.D. era needed
I.D. needed: era on this ‘Ford Crest Wings Badge’ Building a 32 5W HiBoy and want to keep it period correct for WWII pre & post war. This Badge looks so good in the Dash center I hope to use it. I think it looks 1930s art deco; wada ya think?
Thanks, Ric |

I believe it is out of the 50s. It looks like the crest, used in the mid 50s. It still would be cool for your car. MIKE (mikeburch) |

That is the Ford Crest style that was used starting in the early '50's although, I've never seen one with the wings like that used on a car.

I agree with '50's era. If pre or just post War, it would have the Ford Script.
If it looks good on your dash, put it on. |

can't help with the I.D., but it looks cool, would not mind having one myself.

For comparison I'm posting a Ford Crest photo from 1951 and the mystery Crest; they don’t seem to be inspired by the same person do they? I’m wondering if there is any relation to the early 1940s when FORD was building Bombers for the War effort. Ric |

I see a lot of similarties between the two. You have the five sided emblem with the inverted "V" having five dots in it and the FORD script on top. You might be right in that it had to do with the airplane production. ???? MIKE (mikeburch) |

This site has a bunch of different Ford emblems but only a few have wings. http://www.cartype.com/pages/418/ford_related_emblems
Here is a different one. It was most likely aftermarket or a display item. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=561444 Last edited by rotorwrench; 02-18-2014 at 02:12 PM. |
