Default 36 acceleration pump

Finally finished my 36 Cab restoration. Runs and handles fine but with hesitation and occasional back fire with acceleration. Checked the carb and no gas from the accel. pump. Happened to have a pump rebuild kit and replaced the pump arm and leather plunger mechanism. Only slight improvement. (The previous pump leather was no doubt bad). Some gas does come out the discharge nozzles but not much---seems to be there should be a good squirt. Any advise from anyone. Thanks Bruce

I had to completely strip and clean my carb. One emulsion tube was blocked, the hockey sticks were bent and blocked. Don't just chase one problem at a time, strip and clean it properly.

I think your talking about a Stromberg 97?? If so there seems to be an obstruction blocking the accelerator passages or there is no fuel for the pump to pump. Should have a good strong pump stream.

Good advise from both. It is a Stromberg 97 and I seem to recall a strong stream from both jets when I checked in the past.

In some cases the check valve behind the middle plug is stuck open , don't overlook
that.

Charlie is right on if the check valve fails to close properly when the pump is depressed the stream of fuel created could partially be diverted back to the float bowl.
