Default Worthless old car

The thread on "another one bites the dust" got me a bit perturbed by the stupidity.
The reason our cars are still here is that they were good cars. You don't see Vegas, Pintos, Pacers, etc for some reason.
The our cars were loved for what they did for us. They are beautiful and ran when anything else was dead.
I had a 34 that leaked oil from the rear seal. I did not know it did not have a rear seal. I desided to pull the pan and change it. I was turning the crank to get more room and something did not look right. I moved the crank some more and realized the rods had so much clearance that the crank could turn and not move the rods. It still leaked oil but ran smooth as glass and never made a sound.
I am still knocked over by the quality and beauty of my 32's.
People put them in barns for a reason. Graditude to service and rememberence of good times. They were used hard and repaired as best some could afford.
The sometimes eliteism with 32's also bothers me.
They were the poor mans car.
I attach some pictures.
The front fender was repaired so many tmes I can't determine the number. They wanted to use the car.
The tag mount and tailight stand are from a car from 1951. The owners did not have enough money for two 1/4" bolts so they wired the plate on. It is from a car as a trailer of truck has a diffferent plate. The light was scrounged from somewhere to keep it going.
Reliable?
Look at the spindle tie rod ball.
I am also not convinced that a lot of the improvements are not as good as it was stock.
My 32 drives just fine.
Ask Old Henry if they are practical.
Thank you.
I feel better

One of Henry Fords guiding principles was that his vehicles should be simple enough that most owners could repair them with limited skill and ordinary tools. That certainly helped make the Model T one of the most popular cars of its time, and vehicles came from the factory with "monkey" wrenches that had a square end that could be used to open plugs with recessed tops.`Most of the buyers were farmers or workmen who couldn't afford to take their cars to a garage, even if they wanted to. Contrast that with today. Last week we had a GMC SUV in the shop that needed a new timing chain. We had to pull the entire engine to gain access to the chain! I don't think that is progress! Viva Henry!

I just wanted to highlight this for the old memory bank.

I like your old plate still wired to the bracket with old wire. Over the years I too have run across old plates still fastened to a car (or part). Instead of separating the plates from the bracket for storeage, I have lately been leaving them on because they tell a story. If you want to sell that one (or I'd trade you one of my extra '32 lite stands) send me a PM. I'd love to have it for my newly started collection. If I can remember, I'll take some picks of what I have so far.

That tail light bracket is one of my favorite things. Thank you but it is staying. I bought it for a dollar at a swap meet. I took it back to my spot to start working on it. I had one wire started when I realized it was an artifact from another era and I was not authorized to destroy it. It is a trophy to all the people that preserved our cars.
