Default Wiring Harness' post 2 wire tail light

Does someone know when was the first car with a 3 wire tail light harness and has a join at the steering box were it joins the light switch . 39?Thanks

I can not think of any that had 3 wires. All that I know about have a black wire and green wire for the tail light and the other wire for the gas tank sending unit. I think that all 36 tru 39 were the same.

Sounds like possibly you have a harnness that is set up for signal lights as well.

Thanks jerry and Lawson I think the Gas sender wire is it ,they have used it for a backing light ,But it has a join at the HL switch ? with bullet plugs ,
