6v lamps????
Ok guys, here is an interesting thing I found today. Might be of help to the 6v guys.
I was going through the signal stat set up on my old Tonner and noticed that the lamps used in the sockets are different than those I can get at Napa. These lamps look the same as a larger single filament 6 volt bulb on the outside but the actual filament on the inside is 2 or more times the height on the inside. When you put power to these they produce 2 to 3 times the light which as we all know is helpful on a 6 volt system. My question is where can I get some more of these, I would like some spares. I am guessing that they are not being produced, maybe someone has some sitting on a shelf? Any of the old timers remember these? thanks. |

Your best bet is to look for them in flea markets.

Re: 6v lamps????
There are some bulbs that look the same but have higher candlepower (CP).
I have a lot of NOS 6V bulbs in boxes. If you post a picture maybe I can match it. |

Re: 6v lamps????
That could very well be a super bright bulb from Sacramento Vintage Ford. They are much brighter for 6 volts. They are what I use. Available here: http://www.vintageford.com/part_sear...3-6sb&Category
Their candlepower is 14/50 whereas the NAPA bulbs are 3/21 cp as I believe that NOS bulbs are. That's almost 5 times as bright for the tail light and over twice as bright for the brake light. Here is my study and comparison of the various options for 6 volt bulbs: http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67558

Re: 6v lamps????
All my dual filament bulbs are 21 and 3 CP. I have some singles with 15 CP.
By the way, the size of the filament can be deceiving. It's the thinner filaments that are brighter. Don't judge a bulb by its filament. |

Re: 6v lamps????
I would get pulled over by the cops regularly for my tail lights being out back when I ran the stock 3/21 cp bulbs but not since the Sacramento Ford Super Brights.

I use the super bright 6 volt bulbs from Sacramento also. They are extremely brighter.
