I have a question about emergency brake rods. In the Judging Guidelines, there is a picture of the threaded end of a service brake rod that shows a "neckdown" just before the threads start. The JG's only refer to the service brake rods having the "neckdown" - with rolled threads. However, the JG's don't address whther the emergency brake rods have the a neckdown" or not. I have three emergency brake rods that DO have the "neckdown" on them. I also have three emergency brake rods that don't have the "neckdown" and I am 99% sure they are original Ford rods from looking a the forged seams and the correct upset in the middle. What I am wondering about is did Ford start with "neckdown" emergency brake rods and at some point, probably for cost saving, change over to regular rods? If anyone knows about this, please post a response. I am curious as the JG's are very sketchy about emergency brake rods - it only says "most" were die cut which may mean no "neckdown" on them.
