Default It Was Tough But......

HI ,Guys just wanted to share this image with you.I recently read an article on how to place the stone guard inside the radiator shell. I like the idea and the look so I gave it my best shot. Here is the result, I'm very pleased , it still functions as a stone guard and i can see the blue on top and the black on the bottom. LOTS OF PATIENCE thanks for looking. THE HOOCH

That does look good, and I'm a guy that doesn't like stone guards. It's just that I don't like them hiding the shell above and below the core. How did you get it spaced out so it isn't riding on the fins?

I really like the look of it. Sounds like it isn't easy? Did you have something to go by?

Article in the January/February 2021 Restorer.

And I agree, Hootch, it looks great. Really nice job. Especially with the color panel in the radiator shell.

If you don't want to cut up the stone guard sold by the parts stores you can buy just the mesh from McMaster Carr, see https://www.mcmaster.com/9656T11/.

Thanks nKaminar
I will check that out and order the piece and not have to cut my stonegard. Great Idea, I really like the look of it but took mine off as it covers up the radiator shell

Thanks again

after cutting and fiting perfict, i used a wood dowel on the outside of the shell and wired it in place both top and bottom, then used J B weld 5020 and glued it into place BOTH TOP AND BOTTOM on the inside of the shell . there is enough space for the guard to fit but cutting the top ,bottom, and sides near the top requires patience.

Check out McMaster's price for a 36x36 sheet. Maybe try some diamond mesh stucco lath and paint flat black.
