1939 floor mat
I just received my new floor mat from Dennis Carpenter. It's very good quality! My question is about a shift boot. When I bought my coupe a few years ago, it came with a shift boot, and that mat was fairly butchered to make the opening around the boot. Is the boot a correct, original piece? Or is it just an add-on? I've seen photos of supposedly restored cars with and without the boot.

Re: 1939 floor mat
I was always led to believe the shift boots were an aftermarket piece but don't know if that's really the case.

Re: 1939 floor mat
I have a '38 and recently had the engine/transmission out. When looking for parts/seals to reinstall I saw the soft foam seal that goes around the shifter tower and under the transmission cover. My opinion is that this seal is what keeps out the dust and heat and the semi-hard shifter boot is an add-on.
