This was a cool video/movie. The next one on you tube after that, was the history of the Lincoln Highway, part of the PBS series and hosted by Drake Hokanson who wrote a book about the highway with extensive photos of what remains. Wyoming, Medicine Bow, Rawlins and the remnants are on my future road trip list.
In 1919, Lt Colonel Dwight D. Eisenhower had command of on Army convoy testing the utility of this coast to coast road. This event eventually led to Ike signing the bills for the Federal Interstate system in 1953 & 1956. |
