Default 1956 Crown Victoria Skyliner Glasstop

Hey all, looking forward to spending some time here on the forum.

My brother and I are in the process of acquiring a '56 CV Skyline glass top. I am having a hard time finding much info about it, and was hoping for some info or to maybe be pointed in the right direction. It is all original, has been garaged its entire life and has approximately 30k miles. It is Fiesta Red, single tone paint. I do not have much info beyond that right now, I am hoping to get some better photos and the vin this weekend. I have seen them go for nearly $200k in pristine condition, obviously this one isn't quite on that scale. I really just trying to find out what I have, and what it may be worth. I appreciate any input anyone can offer.

Thumbs up Re: 1956 Crown Victoria Skyliner Glasstop

You know most here are going to be insanely jealous ...

Just post a photo of your PATENT PLATE and someone will decipher for you.

Very nice!
Here's a link to the Crown Victoria Assn....
https://thecvaonline.com/

and an old data / patent plate decoder document, from their website...
https://thecvaonline.com/howtos/DataPlateDecoder.pdf

My first guess is, if anyone has the info you're looking for, they would.

My grandfather, who owned the car as long as I can remember is/was a member. I've been to a few yearly shows with him as a kid. I remember going to one in NJ and one in Toronto I believe.

Is there any information on production numbers as far as how many of each color and configuration were made? I have found the numbers for each trim, but nothing beyond that.

$200,000? They aren't that rare. I've seen F-code Supercharged 57 Thunderbirds sell for less. They are rare.

Sold at auction in 2014 for $165,000. Obviously that's the top end of the spectrum.

Finding the trim information was a stroke of good luck.
Someone may have color & configuration info somewhere but it doesn't look like Ford was in the habit of saving old paperwork.

"In 1967, Lois worked in the Legal Department at Ford, and needed to research a particular 1955 Thunderbird. When she asked the people in archiving for the invoice, she was told that they were all thrown away after 10 years, which of course meant that the information she needed had been destroyed two years earlier."

No doubt it's history pushed the price upwards.

That's what I found as well, trying to see if there is a breakdown of how many of each color, engine option, stuff like that.

A '56 glass top should say 64B on the data plate for the body. 64A is a steel top Crown Vic.

The 1956 Ford Fairlane Glass Top Skyliner is a gorgeous car. This car that you are onto looks great. Wish that it was in my garage.

Ok, some updates. It has closer to 90k miles, and some mouse damage from being in storage. Additional photos as well.

The "M" code engine has 4-bbl teapot carb, dual diaphragm vacuum cans on the loadomatic distributor and dual exhausts. In '56, the Fairlane dual exhaust exited thru the bumper instead of underneath.

Super beautiful car. I like the single color. Every one that I have ever seen has been a two tone. I used to own a 55 Glasstop years ago, red and white.

I see that now, not sure where I got Sunset Coral from. I see it’s not even an option for 1956.

There is a flawless, concourse condition 1940 Ford sedan and a nicely restored 1956 F100 in the garage as well. There was a 1956 CV that had never been registered and had less than 1,000 miles, but that has already been sold.
