Why would you want a side mounted spare tire ? Yes they are not very common. I think more in Australia than USA.

Plus, they're in the way when accessing/working on the engine...Pain in the butt...

Spare tires for Ford 1932-1934 are not often seen. That's why I like it. Yes, access to the engine is worse and when there is a problem they have to be taken down.

The brackets show up for sale from time to time as while not that many were sold originally, proportionally fewer want them these days for reasons cited above, plus given how high the tire and wheel end up, they detract from the appearance of the car, in my opinion, plus they interfere with forward vision when driving depending on how tall the driver is.

While '33 and '34s have the same 5.25 x17" tire size, their spare tire covers are different to the extent of different stainless steel trim or lack thereof. The tire size for 1935 was 6.00 x 16", so the tire cover (both face plate and outer band) are different in sze compared to the '33-'34 tire cover.

My height is 6 feet and 2 inches and I have no problem with Ford Model A. I don't know how it is in Ford 1932-1934.

I thought that when I'm tall I shouldn't have a problem with a spare tire. That I wouldn't mind the view.

DavidG can you please tell me why people didn't get side mounts? You have a lot of experience with deuce lover and I would like to know your opinion. And also on the side mounts on the Ford 1932?

Because of the way the front fenders on '33-'34 passenger cars were formed, the side mounts for those years end up mounted higher off the ground relative to the top of the hood. To many people, they end up being too high and look oddly placed as a result. The side mounts on '32s are mounted lower relative to the top of the hood and end up looking appropriately proportioned to the rest of the surrounding components. It is a personal perspective, I guess. I like side mounts on '32s, especially on certain body types like the convertible sedans and phaetons, but on a '33 or '34 passenger car, I think they look misplaced and detract from the overall styling of the cars.

Agreed, I have a right welled fender for our 33 (Right???) that I would most likely part with IF someone wanted it for the reasons DavidG just posted

Side mounts on a '33 std tudor. Proportions are off to me. "33 std tudor without side mounts, much better IMO. Pic of a 32 RPU with right side mount.

DavidG I wrote with Mr. deuce lover and you both have great reasons. As I wrote to him, I don't like that the side mounts are so close to the front of the car. It would look better if they used the style from Ford Model A or Ford 1932. That's why I prefer to use side mounts in 1932.
