Interesting to see, during cleanup, the standard transmission in this 53 Merc is painted the same colour as the engine. Kind of an off white or beige to my eyes. I don't recall seeing a transmission with any paint before. Number showed up too.

I've seen photos of other Canadian Ford vehicles with the color you describe. They were just black here in the US.
