Surging
I took the 48 out yesterday for a short drive, first time out this year. It starts right up, idles ok and doesn't miss. It did start surging some so I drove it on home ok. What causes surging, what should I check first?

Re: Surging
In my experience, if the surge is a gentle slow/speed up symptom, it is typically a fuel issue. It the surge is quick and jerky, that is generally an ignition problem. The causes can be many, so depending on what type of surge you have, work on that system. Check the whole system carefully, but only change one thing at a time, and test each change to see if the problem is solved.

My guess is we are going to see a lot of posts about missing and stumbling fords now that they are out of the winter slumber. I'd try the MMO trick first off as it's cheap and does no harm. Best of luck! . Last edited by Tinker; 04-02-2021 at 01:22 PM. |
