Question for rhd model a owners
Hi friends from Canada and Australia.
I bought a STOP LIGHT SWITCH for LHD car. As I understand this switch is bolted on the left side of the frame. My question is how it goes for a RHD car ? Some body told me I need to open the it and change the switch ! Some body has any photos of this switch on RHD cars ? Many thanks in advance for this tips. Charlie

Re: Question for rhd model a owners
Hi Charlie.
The RHD stoplight switch for 28/29 and early 30 cars mounted to the frame just below the right door pillar with a coupling rod to the brake pedal. Pics attached. The LHD switch body will not fit. You can change the internals of a LHD to a RHD casing. The later 30's switch mounted to the centre cross member as any LHD car. Regards, Les. RHD. If you want more info contact me on [email protected]

Question for rhd model a owners
Hi Les,
tks for your photos and your comment. I was checking some photos into your book, but to be honest, it's difficult for me to understand how exactly this switch is fixed to the frame. You had mentioned a RHD case. Where can I find one of those? Can I use the LHD 28/29 switch case if I turn around the screws ? I sent to you some mails, but for some reason I guess they never arrived to you, because you never answer me. May I send some info to your mail address modelabooks@........ ? Cheers amd tks again. Charlie

Hi Charlie.
I have sent photos to your email address, plus an attachment on stop light switches which is part of my new book. If you added a 'e' to 'xtra' on my email address it won't get through. [email protected] Les.

Re: Question for rhd model a owners
Sorry I don't think so as I sold the car but will check . However if you take the floor boards out and then get the switch you can easily see what angle it has to sit at to work (essentially you just reverse the angle of the switch and side for RHD) You can use the LHD switch unchanged if you fabricate a metal plate to attach it to the frame . You just cut some steel plate to the correct shape bolt the switch to this (at the correct angle) and then bolt the plate to the frame. The piece of plate will be wider at the front than the back to give you the correct angle and will end up looking pretty much like the pictures Les posted.
