Painting a gas tank
Had a buddy come over the other day while I was getting ready to paint a '36 gas tank. I set the tank up on some "stilts" and got ready to prime things. After watching me for awhile he said, "I never saw a gas tank painted like that before, that's a neat idea." I told him it isn't thing profound, it is just a simple way to do it. At any rate, the next time you need to paint a gas tank you might want to try this technique (if you don't already do it this way). It is easy to set up. Just cut four 5/16" redi-rods 12"-14" long, have about 8 nuts and flat washers. Assembly as shown and run a piece of masking tape down each rod (so you get the nuts off when your done) and away you go! By having the tank on "stilts" you can prime and paint all sides without having to do the paint in stages waiting for things to dry and then flipping the tank over to paint the other side.
