I met John at Bonneville in 2008 shortly after I had received a copy of his book from our friend Bill Bentley, who had helped with the book. John was busy getting a flathead powered Hudson through inspection so our conversation was brief, but am very glad I was able to meet and talk to John. RIP John.

RYAN Done GOOD!

I sent Ryan a note yesterday afternoon, and I'm PROUD to say that he has made it possible (NOTE permanent, special MEMBER status under screen name) to pay tribute to those that we lose here far too often, like John.

Thank YOU, Ryan!

Wow, what terrible news. I too met John out at Bonneville in 2008. Complimented him on his book. A real pleasure to talk to. A sad day in the flathead world. May he rest in peace.

Sad news indeed. I think I have read almost all the flathead Ford V8 engine building books out there. Ron's and JWL's books are the only ones that don't just repeat all the old stories without actual testing. I will miss his wisdom on this forum. RIP.

Thanks Ron His passing will leave a huge void in the Ford flat head world. I have known John through E mail and the Ford barn since the late 1990,s. I raced a few times in the early 60,s at Cordova Il with his idol Stan L
I have not seen him post for quite a while but did not know that he was sick. My prayers go out to his family and may he RIP

I’ve been under a rock, or somehow missed the bad news......
His book was the Bible on the hard core engineering theory on building flatheads.
I called him a couple of times with questions and he was most cordial and helpful
Another void on par with the loss of Bruce Lancaster.
Condolences to his wife and family.

(Seeing the reference to St. Luke’s in Jax was nostalgic, I was born there in 1946.)
