Ian, If it is the type shown in you drawing it should pull straight out. You might have to give it a hard tug and it should come completely clear. All it does is open or close a set of electrical contacts in the power circuit. Regards, Kevin.

I have tried tugging it but it wont move , I might have to make or put a puller on it I do not want to wreck anything inside the chamber.

I have talked to other owners of this radio and they are having problems with the contacts on the Header control too.

From your photo rotating while pulling may help if not try some penetrating lube

Ian already asked me via email. The radio key should be removable with only a little bit of resistance, but in fairness it was more than forty years ago since I last had a '32 radio. The '33 Grigsby-Grunow glove box radio also had a similar key. For sure, those keys are removable without the use of tools, however 90 years of oxidation could be a very effective glue.

I'd try lock dry lube - comes in an aerosol can. Stuff is great and will not leave a residue.

I have contacted two other owners of 1932 cars fitted with radio and they cannot remove the key.
I have dismantled the header control by breaking the knob and have found that it does not have a removable key so it seems that the later models do not have a removable key.
Now too making up parts.
