1935 Phaeton question
Least year I acquired a “1936” Phaeton which has recently proven to be a 1935 based upon frame numbering.
In a current Hemmings listing, a similar car’s description states that “only 33 are registered with the International Early V8 Club”, or words to this effect. I find it a bit hard to believe that the 35s are this rare and would appreciate the group’s thoughts. Thank you.

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
Some people say anything in a listing, cause they heard it somewhere. I think you need to contact the early v8 club to be sure.

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
Post pictures of the car in detail!! Plenty of knowledgeable folks here that can render a thought or three. A "few" probably "THE" most knowledgeable. AS Corvette8N says OR as an Old timer that used to work here always said - "That's their tale, I sitting on mine!"

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
There's a lot more to distinguish between a '35 and '36 phaeton than the just the "frame numbering". Even with all of the front end bolt-on sheet metal and rear fenders missing, the cowls, chassis frames, gas tanks, and door handles are different as well as the upholstery and other interior details.
As for rates of survival, no one knows with any certainty, but judging from the number of both model year's examples that have come up for sale in recent years, neither can honestly be described as "rare". |

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
Your '36 or someone else's '36? And when did we shift gears from '35 to '36 (noting the title of your thread)?

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
Requesting help identifying correct year; engine is a “bitsa” so no joy there I’m afraid

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
Lets start here: what are the frame number, transmission number and title number?

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
Frame number indicates Sept 35 manufacture:

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
I guess if engine number matches above, then I do have a ‘36, irrespective of frame number ?

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
The engine does not have a number. The transmission has a number.

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
Then same comment - if transmission number matches that on frame then I have a ‘36 irrespective of date of frame manufacture ?
Thank you

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
What's the body tag number say? Should be on the passenger side firewall, facing "up".

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
No joy on the body tag number; it is an after-market repro and boank

Re: 1935 Phaeton question
Jacques, A question, does it have wire wheels or wide-five?
The Phaeton in the pictures shows characteristics of a 1936 model.
