Default 1940 Ford Rear Fender Brace

I have a '40 pickup with mangled rear fenders that I need to rebuild.
I'm looking for a photo of how the brace mounts to the rear fender so I can reconstruct mine.
As a long shot, if anyone has a stock '40 in or near the Twin Cities, I'd like to take a look at it and take measurements.
Happy New Year everyone!
Ralph

Ralph,
Here's a photo from a '40 I'd restored. Hopefully it'll help some. There should not be stress on the fender when installing the brace.

I’m also curious about this for when I put my pair of steel fenders on.

I’ve seen some that have a hole through the outside of the fender. Did some attach that way at the corner of the bottom and wheel arch? Or did they all attach with some kind of tab that seems to be missing in every fender I see?

Does anyone have a picture of that tab?

Fritz,
I don't have any photos of the tab in question. Rest assured; NO fenders were bolted through the fender. They ALL had the little tab to fasten the brace when new.
It's not unusual for that tab to have rusted and typically broken off when someone got a bit too aggressive when attempting to remove the screw / nut from the brace.

Thanks Kube, I've been admiring the work you've done on your truck in your restoration thread at the Early V-8. It is that missing tab that I'd like to reproduce. Is it just an extension of the wheel well lip?

Glenn, One thing I had overlooked when restoring all the vehicles I had? I took so few photos. Looking back, I have realized that was a mistake.

I did take a lot of "before" and "after" photos of the processes and turned those into photo albums.
Still, photos like the ones you'd shared, I should have been taking.
A huge "duh" in my personal past.

Kube, I take more and more pictures now. It helps the memory :-)

Many times I'll think "this is obvious" well after a few weeks or months, it just ain't so!

19Fordy and Coop along with Pete, do the best with the pictures.

Happy New Year!

Glenn
