Re: gas millage
If you're getting 22 miles to the gallon with a flathead, you must be driving downhill.

Re: gas millage
Canadian gallons do make a difference as they are bigger but still I'm happy to hit 15 mpg on the old 52 Merc. I don't put on enough miles in a year that gas mileage is going to be a concern.

Re: gas millage
An imperial gallon equals 1.2 U.S. gallons. It has been a long time since gasoline was sold in imperial gallons in Canada as it is sold by the liter (litre) these days.

Re: gas millage
My friends home made hydrogen generator would be the ticket!! You don't have a OBD 2 or 3 to have to manipulate. IS that maybe "imperial" miles to a US Gallon? JK (2nd statement)....amazing mileage though

Re: gas millage
When I drove the 1-1/2 ton truck wit about 2 ton load to flea markets— usually not driving over 55 it got 17-18 mpg, when it was sold and driven to California the guy said he got 15, used 2 quarts oil, and he made it in 4 days, so I figured he drove it over 60 mph. The 39 with 60 hp got over 25 mpg unless it was driven over 70, then it was 20 mpg
I’m going to dig out the plans for the wood gasification system either for my T, or A |

I've always wanted to build a gasifier too. My neighbor from Finland says a few where around when he was a kid

Re: gas millage
To increase your MPG, just lie about it. LOL

Re: gas millage
That is entirely possible with that engine, AND, if you drove like they do in mileage contests, you could most likely improve quite a bit on that.

Re: gas millage
Compression, lean mixture , and allot of advance. Best dist for this project would be one of Charlies distributirs and a 2GC carb to start with. But 22 would be hard to beat??

Re: Gas millage
According to some people we don't have miles here anymore but kilometres. If you want true confusion try reading the mileage ratings of new cars in litres per hundred kilometres.

Re: gas millage
Just would like to point out the first post didn't claim any MPG. Rather, he claimed millage which has zero to do with automobiles.

Re: gas millage
AND that millage hurts a fella a whole lot more than a fuel-hungry flattie!
Adding, I just noticed this is my post number 3,232 on the FordBarn!
