Default My Budget Rotisserie

Because I am a working stiff on a budget, I built my own rotisserie. I wanted to pass along some pics for you guys in my position who may be able to build the same thing. I have $50 into the trailer, $80 for two Harbor Freight engine stands, and about $100 in steel. It took less than 5 hours to build. It isn't pretty, but works nicely.

Great idea. Put some plywood on the trailer and you can stand on it and lay your tools on it as you work.

Allen, I think the big difference between the two rotisseries is you probably have more adjustments with yours that aid in balance. I know on both of mine, they can be balanced within moments where one finger can twirl the body around the entire 360° and when pressure is released, the body stays in that position. If we add a gas tank, or something that changes the Cg, we can raise or lower to compensate. For the cost difference, if Greg is only going to do one car, then the cost differential is worth putting up with less conveniences such as the offset wheels that unload the pressure on the rotating axis, adjustability, etc. As for collecting dust, it is amazing the re-sale value the commercial units hold. If yours is a quality unit more than a couple years old, you can likely sell it for more than you paid for it when it was new!
