Default Axles 1939 Pickup ??

The axles in my 1939 pick up show some wear in the area of the grease seals (see picture). I'm not sure that a new seal will help or if I should I replace the axles. What are your thoughts.
Also, where can I buy new axles or can mine be repaired?
Does anyone have a set in very good condition for sale.

I would be inclined to replace them. If you were closer I have a complete '39 rear axle assembly I'd sell you very reasonably.

Is it possible to have them metal sprayed and surface hardened?

The axles have 18 tooth gears and are approximately 32 1/2 inches each.

Here's a suggestion that's completely of the wall. How about making some spacers to go under the seals to space them out another 1/16th of an inch? That way, they'll run on a virgin surface.

I took the axles to a local machine shop yesterday. They told me essentially the same thing, space out the seal to area on axle without wear.
Thank you all for responses and suggestions.

That's a great idea. Turn out some spacers on the lathe and reposition the seals.

Dick Spadaro's fix - stack a new seal on top of the old one, provides a fresh wear area.
