Default New Guy

Hi, I'm new here, but have been on The Hamb and Garage Journal for a long time.
Since I'm currently working on an old Ford (53 Ranchwagon) I figure I should start hanging out with some blue oval guys. I'll need lots of advice and parts to get through this one!
We are making a woodie out of it, and it's coming along

Thanks for coming on board - we always love new members who are passionate about these early Fords and participate with the collective group. There is a LOT of experience on this site, so don't be afraid to ponder/ask anything.

Welcome!

There's a lot of subtle changes here, but the average car guy wont really notice them. In my mind its the way this wagon should have looked stock in 53. I'm trying to keep it very "stock" looking. Its really hard to find parts for 2 dr wagons. I've been looking for a split front seat for over a year. I hate even the thought of bucket seats.

welcome to Ford Barn Charlie. Here is a picture of the factory 1953 Ford Country Squire. This was the last year that Ford used actual Wood on the sides.
From 1954, these Mouldings were Fiberglass. That is a very attractive Wagon that you are creating, pity that Ford didn't think about offering a 2 door Country Squire. best of luck with your project. Mercman <><

Welcome. The best set of wheels my parents had was a country squire wagon, they all seemed to be blue. There had to be a half dozen throughout the neighborhoods.

The opposing fold up/down rear seats in the back were the best. Scott

I like your project too. I am also building a one off woodie, but haven't posted in a couple weeks because family/holiday stuff is keeping it low key. That's a great start you have there. Keep it up, it's a really cool car!.

I fell in love with this one when I found it in a scrapyard about to be crushed. In hindsight I probably should have left it there. It was so rusted it would have only taken a couple more rainstorms to disappear completely. It just kinda had a "Buck Rogers" look to it with that huge rounded roof. Over 100 patch panels later its looking much better.
