Re: Full flow oil system/kits
I would hope that everyone has a good air filter and leaves it on the engine! Plus, keeps the mesh in the breather cap clean and oiled (and is using a good detergent oil). So now, how is any dirt going to get into the crankcase to be filtered by a fancy 95 or 100% filter? I think an obsession with oil filters is a needless worry!

Re: Full flow oil system/kits
If you are running a PCV system, it will suck a bit of dirty air into the engine around the dipstick and around the 8BA distributor unless you O ring it.

Re: Full flow oil system/kits
Seems to be a lack of understanding of how contaminates get into oil.

Re: Full flow oil system/kits
The most effective filter system and easiest to deal with is the "95%" one, but it has should be done with an empty block during all the machining.
Relatively easy to do and works really well. See the photos below, requires no holes in the pan or anywhere else? This we like, lessens the chance for any leaks! Thanks, Gary in N.Y. P.S. Here's a couple shots, the "diagram-photo" is from one of the Flathead books (not sure which one) and shows the layout clearly, the photo with the fittings is of a finished product! My friends Merc has the filter mounted up on the firewall I believe!
