What are these adapters for ?
I have some of these adapters and it looks like they adapt some type of brake backing plate to some type spindle. Any ideas. Thank you.

Re: What are these adapters for ?
.
Man, those are more rare than teeth on a chicken. Pictured below are '42-'48 LINCOLN FRONT backing plates. If you'll look closely, the offset (deep stamping) of the part where the four bolt holes are located is about 1/2" DEEPER than a Ford Lockheed backing plate. If you bolt them to a Ford spindle AS-IS, the brake shoes will be partially visible between the backing plate and the brake drum. Those spacers will bring the '42-'48 FRONTS back into the same plane as stock Ford, or even Lincoln REAR backing plates. As a side note, ALL Lincoln REAR backing plates have the same offset as Ford Lockheed plates, and the Lincoln REAR plates can be used AS-IS (NO spacer) on the front, '37-'48 Ford spindles. 1941 ONLY Lincoln FRONT plates can be bolted-on to '37-'48 Ford spindles AS-IS....NO mods! Re: What are these adapters for ?
And pictured is a spacer required to fit 39-40 Lincoln front b/plates to 35-36 spindles, again to correctly position the 35-36 brake drums.

Yep, I love it too! Just like this comment I'm making now, but it does add to our total post count numbers which some here really like to do.....

Chicken lips are harder to find than hen’s teeth.

GB, post counts are something we all value and really respect. It's why we are here. Irony is implied.
I live in northern mn, good hens lips are hard to find, plenty of hens teeth though. Yikes!!! But we digress. Last edited by Tinker; 05-30-2021 at 10:19 PM. Reason: added a comma |
