1948-50 Ford truck hood trim?
When removing the hood trim on the side (two long pieces with the FORD emblem in between), I see that there are spring clips and some nuts on the ends of the trim. Where there's nuts, are those separate clips that are holding them on there, or is it all one piece? My concern is that if I snap off one of the nuts I wont be able to re-use the trim. Thanks

Re: 1948-50 Ford truck hood trim?
I've stripped out probably 8 trucks now ( F-1's, F-6's ) and none had the clips you describe. All were held on with just the nspring clips that push in. I just took a look at the parts catalog and those threaded retainers were on COE trucks only. The reg cab hoods used #358158-S3 clips, qty 20. Someone must have added those.

THat's a tough one. A guy I knew who lives down in North Branford, Ct. got me a set for my truck. I don't know where he got them from. I haven't heard from him since he finished his truck. He liked Chucks trucks, so maybe you can try there.

Soak the clips and nuts with PB Blaster, etc. Let it soak overnight, then soak them again and remove the nuts. If it feels like it will not loosen, hold the stainless trim with a cresent wrench, and then remove them. They are a spring loaded bar inside the trim. Bruce Works good Lasts long time |
