Default ticking sound

ive got a 30 model a, and im getting a ticking sound coming from the rear passenger side of the engine. i thought at first it was a exhaust leak but i put new manifold gaskets and a new pipe on it. it may be a cracked manifold, i sure hope not. is there anything else yall can think of? is there anyone around sherwood, or little rock arkansas that may could listen in person?

Driver's side and exhaust manifold? Do you have a RHD car?

How about a valve that's too tight?

A valve too tight would cause a miss, a valve too loose is a tick. Piston is a tick on acceleration. Many things can make a tick as were suggested earlier like bad gaskets or loose exhaust or..................

Use a cheap stethascope, take the probe off & just use the open hose and you can probably locate it quickly.

Could be a hairline crack in the exhaust manifold. With the hood open move the throttle up and down and look/ listen. If it's a crack it will get worse rapidly. look carefully underneath the manifold for cracks.

Could still be a blown manifold gasket, even if it was changed recently Those white gaskets that come in the kits are almost useless specially if the rear of the manifold is warped. You need a manifold thats not warped or drooped to seal properly .Use the copper or steel-clad gaskets.

Another way to help pinpoint where the tick is coming from is to use a long screw driver. Press the handle to your ear firmly and touch different places on the engine with the blade. STAY AWAY FROM THE SPARK STRAPS! Taking a spark in the ear will really ring your chimes.
