Default Throwout bearing chirping

The throwout bearing was working quietly when I pulled the engine for rebuild a few years ago. Some of the available replacements were suspect at the time so I followed the "it ain't broke" rule.

Now it is chirping when the clutch is depressed. It is going to have to get a lot worse for me to pull the engine. In the mean time, is there any way to put lubricant on it through the inspection port on the transmission? If so, what should I use?

The bearing itself is shielded, but the carrier may have a zerk fitting.

No, there is no way to apply lubricant that will help this situation.

My first tranny rebuild as an 18 year old kid, after getting my '39 all put back together including the mat, I discovered that I had not engaged the fork on the throw out. No problem, I needed the practice!

This will give you time to ponder pulling the engine or the rear end. For me dropping the rear would be my choice. With the floorboards out this means less on my back time.
This old body is slow getting under there and even slower getting back up. Especially after getting under there and trying to remember why I went there and which tools I forgot. But, as always, "Enjoying the adventure..." Chap
