Re: starter switch
Is it the one that goes into the rod that then contacts the strap that touches the button on the motor? Picture would help!

Re: starter switch
Some guy did a YouTube rebuilding the starter switch, but he does not use the cross shaped insulator.

Re: starter switch
Bob, And if that guy in the video was to use the cross shaped insulator, where would it go?

Re: starter switch
The pressed paper T piece is the insulated connection between tbe foot pedal rod and copper contact. I made one on the lathe from a nylon bolt also.

I still cant figure out why they didn't keep the earlier rectangular box shape switches. I have one of those that is still original and still works. The insulated piece in them is much larger than the little cross set up. My guess is that they didn't like the location or placement of the terminal on the back side of the box. This link shows a pic of the box type. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58406 |

Re: starter switch
I have taken the plunger out of a reproduction switch and it works in an original housing.
The nylon tip is the practical solution. |

Re: starter switch
I have done exactly the same thing. maybe this is another item that could be added to the thread about what parts are not available for the Model A.
