Default steering box lub

Have a '60 ford steering box and thought I'd check the lub. Have a Ford manual that gives all info on rebuilding the box but nothing on refilling. found in lub. section to use Ford 8BA-19578A lub which I assume is long gone.
What lub would work and how would it be added to the steering box ? I assume thru one of the bolt holes?

I use straight STP in my box. It's a high pressure lubricant but not too stiff. John Deere corn head oil is another good substitute. Under no circumstances should you use chassis grease or anything similar. There should be 2 bolt heads on the top of the box. The smaller one is the filler plug, the other one is the cover for the adjustment screw.

A couple of items I have heard about but have not used besides the Corn Head Grease

Red Head Steering Gear lube (Redhead Steering Gears)
Super S 00 Grease (Tractor Supply)
Penrite Steering box lube

All above were recommended by different people

If you look in the back of your shop manual, there should be a section listing "capacities" that covers all fluids for engine, transmission, cooling system and all gear boxes. They usually also have torque specifications for everything back there too.

Correct, and mine said fill with Ford 8BA-19578A lub. Can find no info on that lub. don't know if it's an oil or grease type lub.
