Default 1929 CCPU drivers side door glass replacement

Am helping a neighbor work on his 1929 CCPU and he needs to replace the drivers side door glass. Would appreciate any instructions and/or pictures of how to do it.

I have replaced my glass in both the doors on my 1929 std coupe but this pickup door seems different. On the coupe I just took off both the plate on top of the door and the one at the bottom of the window and after taking off the door panel and taking loose the arm, was able to work the window out the top of the door. But it does not seem like there is any plate on top of the PU door.

Please give us some ideas as to how to do it "easy" rather than by trial and error. In my case it will be mostly error.

Would appreciate any ideas on how to do this or is there somewhere we could look up how to do it. I could not find anything on the Barn by a search.

Thanks

Are not the doors the same. Recheck the top of the door on the p/up for "hidden" screws from many years of possible corrosion or being repainted.
Paul in CT Maybe p/up and tudor doors are the same? Still look closely again for :hidden" screws.

Fred,

The garnish around the top and sides of the door has to be removed by sliding it up with the door fully open. Roll the window fully down. Use a long block of wood against the upper part of the garnish and tap with a hammer, particularly near each top corner. You should be able to work the garnish upward slowly on each side without binding and tearing the corners of the metal. Once removed this will allow you to get the glass out of the door.

With the window most of the way down unhook the felt channels at the top and slide them out of the door. Check first to see if the glass channels are fastened in some way at their bottoms with a rivet or glue.

Once the channels are out you can unhook the window riser arm from the window track and pull the window up and out of the door.

Here are some posts that will give you more info.

After you remove the screws from the inner U shaped garnish mould, it can be a bear to get the mould moving upwards .

I think there are 3 ? , maybe 2, hidden clips behind each side, so it must be tapped up squarely.

Internal rust can make them stuck.

The mould is fairly fragile, so as stated here, tap it up with a piece of wood in each corner alternately a bit at a time.

I don't think these are repoed, so don't damage them if possible.

Squirt some of your favourite snake oil on the rusty clips if needed.
